Saturday cycle; local woods

I got a thank you note in the post last week from Beach Wheelchairs North Berwick thanking  Forth Fat Gatherer`s who donated £130.  Thank You everyone who donated

Still got a horrid lurgy and cough that comes and goes but i was not wasting a Saturday again,
Still had crazy coughing and the sweats but sod it it`s the weekend!, gotta get out!

High tide was 2pm so got in a nice cycle in the local woods and ended up cycling nearly 3 hours yet was never more that 4-5 miles from home, there is miles of tracks in Binning and Tyninghame woods and it`s bone dry this now, Here on the OS map shows how small an area the two woods are yet there are loads of trails here...

I took the old Pugsley with it`s Alfine hub so could ride a bit `off piste` riding away from the tracks and not be worried about  the loose wood from the recent thinning of the woods...

With no mech to tangle you can ride straight over this type of stuff, not to fast though in case you flip a branch into your spokes...

Across the busy A198 and ahead is an old path marked as Garleton Walk,

Here it is on the present OS map...

Here it is visible but gets a bit overgrown further on...

Into Tyninghame woods and i have started to ride a new trail, you will know the start of this bit of trail if you rode the Sunday at Forth Fat, it`s after the secret trail, we dropped onto the salt marsh to ride around to Mosshouse Point where that steep wee hairpin bend was that only a couple of riders cleaned...

Instead of dropping down onto the salt marsh when you reach the old Deer fence follow the now smoothed off motorcycle Enduro track that was used for 3 events last winter, it will take you all the way to the gate with old hinge near to Mosshouse point....

:)

From Tyninghame Avenue back to the coast and along the secret trail and out around St Baldreds Cradle point...

With the coast cut off below the crags at Ravensheugh with the high tide you can cut in and ride through here then back inland towards Binning woods...

Funny i have another 4 newer Fat and 29+ Surly bikes yet still enjoy riding this old bike so much, we've done a lot of miles together...

I raced home when i saw big dark clouds rolling in and got home just in time as the heavens opened with a heavy downpour and the bike got a quick wash!...

More soon...
