Midweek Cycle- Sunshine!

After a couple of windy and wet days it was god to get out today and see some sunshine again!,
I headed over to the river tyne to check out the water after all the recent rain.  An old track has been recently surfaced and included in the East Lothian Core Path network-Path No 84...

Down to the Tyne at Hailes and it was up high and running, but not as high as yesterday evening where the path along to East Linton would have been underwater with the tyne in spate...

The road was closed on Tuesday with two lorry's blown over on their sides on the bridge over the valley that acts like a wind tunnel in such weather...

I was following some tracks that were fresh this morning, and would follow these tracks of the mystery cyclist all the way to John Muir Park...

Austin Mini,  free uplift...

The Lynn Falls at East Linton...

This was here the previous evening, the rocks are nearly all underwater...

Along near Preston Mill and the new weir was doing it`s job...

LOl... `I am Spartacus!`...

In 1948 the water was once nearly up to the rafters at Preston Mill...

The Knowes Ford was well up too!...

I headed for a Loop around John Muir Park...

A lot of wood has washed down the river tyne and into the bay...

Out around the point  on the south side of the tyne estuary, and this winter the sand is definitely been firmer on the coast, usually it`s real soft out here, today i managed to ride round on the 29+ 3" wheels on the Surly kramPug....

There is a knack to riding softer sand, see to the right the deeper footprints, to my left the wetter softer sand from the previous tide,  in the middle was a width of firmer sand with small shells which help maintain easier forward motion...

Very little sinking here with the tyres aired down to 10 psi today before i left home-i usually run the 29+ wheels at 12 psi...

Back into the strong westerly wind and through the woods that were wet in places...

Back to Tyninghame and the two Little Egrots that are often here at this small lagoon...

and round to Tyninghame and the view across to the previous point on the north side now of the estuary...

Back home via Scoughall, Whitekirk and a very muddy Becky`s Strip Byway and John Muir Way as the sky clouded over mid afternoon...

Yep!...

Home and a muddy bike but a great wee ride...

More soon...
