Mid week catch up, Harvest starts, harvest views and 29+ Harvest cycling...

What a weird week of weather, warm winds and summer skies one minute, then dark overcast with a cool wind like a winters day, then back tosummer temps an hour or so later!,
Nearly every day there has been a rain shower, isolated but often heavy,
Winter Barley has been getting harvested around here, they seem to be ripe first around our wee corner of the county. There is not much this year, mostly spring Barley and Wheat, so most of the fields are isolated so not much stubble fields to link together yet to cycling for mile upon mile, will need to wait for the Wheat harvest for that....

Further west and inland from the coast the fields are a bit greener...

While the odd combine has now started around home when the crop is dry enough...

Saltire sky...

Favourite time of year for views around Whitekirk, a sea of golden brown... and you will spy the odd combine!...

Mowgli!!!
Mowgli loves to run in harvested fields, the classic `dog on bale` pic...

:)

Grey skies at work!...
Another day at work and back to those sullen skies!...

Ebay score on Fatbike rims,  so goodbye Monkey....

Home from work and a pair of used `Surly Rollin Darryl` rims had arrived that i bought for a good price on eBay. I paid a 3rd of the RRP for them, they have been powder coated white but i will be changing the colour before they get built onto my existing 4"  Pumpkin Pugsley `Large Marge` rim wheel set.
I will sell the Large Marge rims to help cover the cost, as i won`t need them, I have been wanting to build a nice fat wheel set for my good Pugsley to match the 29+ wheels so will get them together next week.

I do not buy any bike stuff now unless i sell something first due to lack of spare cash these days and the house needs money spent on it, so the Surly Karate Monkey 29er was split the other evening and the frame set went on eBay a few days ago and it sold in 2 days, boxed up now ready to post. I will not use it now i have the ECR-it is my do it all 29er frame set now, loads of spare stuff to fit it, another set of Rabbit hole wheels, spare Knard 3" tyres, 2,5" Minion tyres, 29er wheels, spare drive chain, bars and 29er wheels and tyre options...

And this is why i got an ECR  frame set instead of the Krampus, as my headsets and forks i already own will fit straight on...

Evening cycle...
And out for a spin on the 29+ ECR...

Bales are already lifted out the local harvested fields...

And rowed up further afield...

Big blue sky... Quick sunset this evening, and a great wee ride on the stubble again!...

Nearly the weekend!...
And a lovely Friday spent finishing off at work, and a few hours on a lovely John Deere Demo fairway mower as some fields around about were getting harvested......

The beast is on the move!... can you see it?,  minus 35ft header!...

Bales are being shifted quick time out of the harvested fields!...

Course prep for the weekend is done and as good as it will be with two, yes two folk this week!,
I`m ready for a Cider this evening!, and looking forward to some harvest cycling with friends tomorrow!...

More soon...
