Mid Week cycle; Aberlady Bay

A very windy evening and a ride down to Aberlady Bay as not been out there for a few weeks.
Using the shelter of hedgerows and stubble fields i managed to `tack` into the wind and avoid most of the headwind to the coast. Going home would be easy!...

Around this field was supposed to be a Core Path that was never completed. Gullane residents have started a petition to have a safe cycle route built to Drem...

The unused and now overgrown section of `Ghost` trail...

People are walking here as this path around the overgrown section shows...

Across a field...

And onto Drem Ride...

Autumn temperatures now even though a summer harvest evening...

On the pavement up to Quarry Corner (Gala Law) and this lonely WW2 Anti Invasion Tank block was part of a check point through the defences to the coast. Two rows of blocks ran south to the Peffer Burn along side the road, they were lifted in the 1960s for land fill before construction of Cockenzie Power Station...

This 1951 picture shows Gala Hill in the centre and the two rows of Anti Tank blocks along side the road  from the Burn to the corner...

When we were learners on motorbikes at 17 getting the pegs down round here was part of getting your wings! -:) ...

Across Aberlady Reserve and into the Gale...

Out across the bay and into the full force of the wind, it was wild! ...

As the sunset i RZd with friend Jason at Gullane car park for an hours night ride, good to get out again on the trails after dark...

Forgot how bright the Magicshine 872 lights are!, only need one on 3/4 power most of the time, but 2 on full power is a giggle...

Out of the wind in the pine woods and a loop of the ace sandy trails there...

The Wood Troll is still there!...

Now sporting a pipe!...

Tail wind home on country roads and a nice 28 mile ride done...

I did some film using the Go Pro before sunset out on the Bay, just because of the sand blowing, i think that is always amazing to see.

Song is `Owls and Vultures` by Luke Vangela...

  2. It was a strange light with a low cloud bank on the skyline Mike but as often there was a minuite or two when the light went all golden red.
