East Fortune Air Show 2010

Saturdays Airshow was sadly missing some big names in historic planes...a sign of the economic times perhaps...we still had a good day out...
met friends Andrew and Ian along at Drem Station and we cycled a loop of trails around East Fenton to Chapel...

then across to Whitekirk where we had a free pint of Belhaven Best Ale...there was a bar set up on the Golf Course for a competition...i set up the gazebo so only fair to check the ale was ok!.
then through Binning woods to East Linton and up to Pencraig Hill for 1pm where we sat and watched the Airshow from a good view point...

was a bit far for pics with my cheapy compact and only the Dakota passed overhead in a turn,i had hoped alot more planes would have turned over the hill,so afraid pics are a bit poor...but as always i was made up hearing and seeing a spitfire again in the skys of East Lothian as well as the other planes of the show...
DeHavilland Vampire...

Dakota...

Catalina 2...

Grumman Wildcat...

another favourite the P51 Mustang...

and the Spitfire...

some (too far away!) film from Pencraig hill at this years East Fortune Airshow...

now to do these planes justice here`s an excellent film of last years show`s appearance of a spitfire made by a very talented film maker...

  1. Great photos and film, I'm jealous! You can't beat the sound of a Merlin! Loved the Dakota's slow pass!

The Sptifire, even in its two seater form as shown in the last film is just achingly beautiful! RJ Mitchell was a genius.

  2. Hi bro - great footage - the sound of the Spitfire's Rolls Royce Merlin engine gave me goosebumps! Al also has some good photos from the day over on http://crivensjingsandhelpmaboab.blogspot.com/2010/07/air-show.html
